On 14 July 2013, Mont Ventoux will be the scene of the Tour de France’s 15th stage. Celebrating its 100th birthday, the “Grande Boucle” is reviving this legendary cycling summit. The formidable slopes of the Giant of Provence never fail to provide the racers with a challenge and the spectators with a show filled with thrilling suspense.
The Tour will stay in the Vaucluse department for three days:
- Sunday 14 July 2013: Givors/Mont Ventoux stage.
The climb will take place on the south edge via Bédoin, the town where theHotel des Pins is located.
- Monday 15 July: rest day in the Vaucluse department.
- Tuesday 16 July: Vaison-la-Romaine/Gap stage.
At the foot of Mont Ventoux, our hotel is the ideal starting point for bike rides. The Vaucluse department is a veritable paradise for cyclotourism, one of the best ways to immerse yourself in its contrasting landscapes along the little country paths.
Mountain bike enthusiasts should avoid off-roading in the various Vaucluse massifs however, as they are home to some exceptional and extremely fragile wildlife and plants.

Climbing and caving
The Vaucluse department is a privileged destination for climbing, with its stunning sites and exceptional climate. Buoux, at the heart of the Luberon area, is a world-renowned climbing destination. Enthusiasts will also appreciate the other sites in the region that offer climbing all year round, such as the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain chain, whose north and south routes are both specially equipped.
The Vaucluse karsts are full of galleries and sinkholes, a veritable paradise for cavers. Please note, however, that caving can be a dangerous activity, and climbing down into caves, sinkholes and chasms should not be done on your own. From the Cité des Papes to the Pays des Sorgues, discover the easy living and the magnificent landscapes the region has to offer, thanks to a variety of golf courses. Whether you are a beginner or looking to work on your swing in the unspoilt natural surroundings, you will be spoilt for choice by the three 18-hole golf courses and one 9-hole golf course found in the Vaucluse department, near the large tourist towns of Avignon, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Orange.

For experienced riders able to control their steed with ease, the Vaucluse department has a range of treks and trails to discover during a half day, full day or over several days, thanks to its network of sign-posted trails.
